The past 12 months had it all — crazy winning streaks, new major champs, a major-week arrest (!) and more. With 2025 on the horizon, our writers are looking back at the most memorable moments from 2024.

No. 15 — Charley Hull goes viral | No. 14 — LIV, LPGA CEOs say goodbye | No. 13— Solheim Cup parking fiasco | No. 12 — Phoenix Open chaos | No. 11 — Lydia Ko’s Hall of Fame resurgence | No. 10 — PGA Tour/Saudi PIF merger stalemate | No. 9 — Keegan Bradley named Ryder Cup captain | No. 8 — Lexi Thompson steps away | No. 7 — Xander Schauffele’s major breakthrough | No. 6 – AK’s return to golf | No. 5 — Nelly Korda’s dominance  | No. 4 — Bryson DeChambeau’s star turn

Biggest golf moments of 2024 No. 3: Scottie Scheffler’s entire season

Let’s celebrate this momentous spot in our year-end countdown by counting up. We’ve run out of ways to describe Scottie Scheffler’s brilliance with words — let’s try numbers here instead.

Scottie Scheffler finished first (1) in a preposterous number of categories, including strokes gained, scoring average, official money, about a dozen other very important categories and the biggest of all: world ranking.

Scheffler’s April victory means he now has two (2) Masters victories, making him one of just 18 people in that exclusive club.

Scheffler won PGA Tour Player of the Year, joining Tiger Woods as the only players to win the award three (3) consecutive times.

Scheffler reeled off four (4) wins in five starts in March and April, when he claimed the Arnold Palmer, the Players, the Masters and the RBC Heritage. The disappointing fifth tournament in that span? He finished T2 at the Houston Open, just missing a putt that would have earned him a spot in a playoff.

Scheffler shot five (5) under par at Valhalla the day of his infamous arrest on Friday of the PGA Championship. He’d go on to finish T8 for the week.

Scheffler led the PGA Tour with seven (7) official wins, the most in a season since Tiger Woods had eight in 2006.

Scheffler really had nine (9) wins, if you count the Hero World Challenge (which you probably should) and Olympic gold (which you should count, like, extra).

Scheffler split ten million dollars (10) in crypto with Rory McIlroy after the two bested Bryson DeChambeau and Brooks Koepka in the Showdown in December. He suggested this might be the motivation he needs to learn what crypto really is.

Scheffler now has thirteen (13) career wins — all 13 coming since Ted Scott became his caddie ahead of the 2022 season.

Scheffler’s sixteen (16) top 10s led the PGA Tour even though he played just 19 events; only Xander Schauffele also had double digits.

Scheffler’s twenty-nine (29) on the back nine in the final round of the Olympics earned him gold; it was arguably the most incredible single nine of the season.

Scheffler has now made forty-four (44) cuts in a row; his last MC came at the 2022 Genesis Scottish Open. It’s worth noting that plenty of Scheffler’s starts these days come in no-cut events, but still — 44 is no joke. Just two other golfers currently have streaks longer than 17.

Scheffler’s victory at the Hero World Challenge earned him a final $1 million, pushing him over sixty-three million ($63) for the season just in on-course earnings when you count his winnings (more than $30 million) plus a FedEx Cup bonus ($25 million) and a Comcast bonus ($8 million).

Scheffler’s scoring average (68.01) set a new PGA Tour record.

We’ll see what 2025 brings.
